Baldwin Beach Park
The nearest beach to Paia
Baldwin Beach park is the closest beach to Paia and is 5 mins walk from the centre of town. It has a basketball court to work out on and we regularly saw Finian Maynard and Jason Prior playing here in the evenings. The beach is sandy and has a beach breaking wave. Great for body boarding but only on the big wave days. We spent one of the most memorable evenings on this beach when we watched the classic surfing film "Big Wednesday" on a large cinema screen set up right on the beach. Amazing to be sitting drinking beer on the grass and looking up to see the clear night sky and hearing the waves breaking behind the screen!
